And though a black rose is still beautiful and mysterious, you should probably avoid sending a black rose to a friend or loved one. Caring for a black rose or roses is relatively simple. If you are going to be storing roses before you give them to someone, store them in a cool environment, such as a refrigerator until you are ready to give them or display them. When displaying your black rose or other roses, keep them away from any harsh elements and check the water level each day—this will help your flowers last much longer. Many flower shops will also include a packet of plant food with a flower purchase. Add this packet to the water for your flowers according to the directions on the package. And even though fresh roses won’t last forever, they can last up to a couple of weeks with proper care.
